Our

Stories (SOS)

Black Connect’s newsroom and source request service that helps new and established media outlets source stories from communities of color.

Here’s the rundown. . . .

According to the Pew Research Center, in 2018, fewer Americans say they have spoken with a local journalist than in 2016, and the gap between whites and nonwhites persists. The study found that it’s more common for white, older, more-educated Americans to have spoken with local journalists.

This disparity is important because the media plays a central role in influencing our opinions and shaping our perceptions about other groups. Lack of inclusion and distorted coverage of communities of color influence public policy.  Access to media provides business owners with exposure, which drives revenue.
